Hi, Welcome to your new Apprenticeship!

Death is getting old and they need a new apprentice to take over. But not any apprentice will do. You have to show that you have what it takes to reap correctly.

Made for the LTGD Jam, Learning To Grant Death is a proof of concept of a game mechanic where you must play detective to meet the goals.

CONTROLS:

RULES:

To Grant death, take a look at your cards and try to find the soul listed on the card. 

Match up the soul to the correct death type. 

Wait for them to stand on or near the X before activating that death type.

Souls will reveal when their highlight above their head shows.

Careful, while you have unlimited Reveals, you can only use 3 at a time before a cooldown.

Level 1, you'll only need to get 3 correct.

Level 2, you'll need to get 5 correct.

You'll only lose if you get all the souls incorrect!

KNOWN ISSUES:

This small proof of concept is not void of any bugs. Here are some that you may encounter:

* The last Soul to enter a radius of a death type will be the one who gets the Ax. To combat this, try to make sure a soul is alone before granting that death type.

* Highlighting a soul to reveal is a big finicky when there are multiple souls bunched together.

* Souls are dumb. They sometimes get stuck on items heading to the places they need to be. Give them a nudge to unstick them.

* The tutorial will not replay after playing a level

* The second level is not balanced correctly but to give an idea of how frantic the game could get

* Try again doesn't load from the Pause menu

* There are only hang up and quirks that you'll experience in the game. Feel free to drop me a line and if this turns into a full project, I will prioritize to fix.
